There’s a heron who flies up from our pond and across our gravel road. Occasionally he stands in the creek. It feels like pure, crazy luck to catch him in flight as we cross the creek; I’ve never been able to sneak up on him on foot. I titled this painting “The Fool” after the tarot card, because “The Fool represents new beginnings, being inexperienced, having beginner's luck, improvisation, and believing in the universe.”
